The next phase of sewer installation work in the area of Route 31 and Exit 67 of I-84 will begin Tuesday, March 25. Work will begin on Route 31 near the Tolland line, then proceed north toward I-84. Initially, work will take place during the day. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays. As the project approaches I-84, work will take place at night, from about 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. The project will take several months. The sewer installation project will provide service to residential properties where septic systems are failing, and allow for sewer service to other properties in the area. The project is being coordinated with the state Department of Transportation. The project contractors are Tighe & Bond and Morais Concrete. Town Hall hours change -- late day shifts to Tuesday Effective Jan. 6, 2025, Vernon Town Hall hours will be adjusted and the late night will shift to Tuesday from Thursday. Vernon has long offered late hours one day a week giving residents the opportunity to visit town hall to transact business, such as renew a dog license, obtain a birth certificate or pay taxes. For many years the late night was Thursday. Town hall hours will now be: Monday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, closed.
