The Vernon Town Clerk’s office is now offering online renewal of dog licenses, providing residents with a more convenient way to keep their pets properly licensed and in compliance with town and state regulations.
“We are committed to improving customer service and making municipal services more accessible for our residents,” said Town Clerk Karen Daigle.
Dog licenses help ensure that pets can be identified and returned to their owners if they become lost.
Residents are reminded that current rabies vaccination information is required to obtain or renew a dog license.
To renew a dog license online, visit https://www.vernon-ct.gov/o/tov/page/town-clerk, go to the dog licenses tab and follow the instructions provided. Residents who prefer to renew in person can visit town hall during regular business hours. 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Renewal by mail remains an option as well.
People registering a dog for the first time must do it in person or by mail. A rabies certificate must be included.
For more information, call the town clerk at 860-870-3662 or email townclerk@vernon-ct.gov.

Mark worked for the town for 36 years and his retirement is a huge loss for the town, Parks and Recreation Director Marty Sitler said.
Mark did and knew so much, he'll be pretty much impossible to replace. Marty asked Mark to start listing all of the knowledge he has stored in his head about maintenance of Vernon's parks and facilities. It's a long list.
The department hosted a reception for Mark Wednesday morning.
