Vernon's curbside leaf collection program begins on Monday, Nov. 2. Vernon Public Works crews will begin collecting leaves that have been raked to the curb.
Also, bulky waste pickup is suspended during leaf collection.
For leaf collection the town is broken into three sections and crews will work through section A, then B, then C. If time and weather allow for it, they will try to make a second pass through each section, although a second pass is not guaranteed.

Leaves should be raked to the curb, but NOT into the street or onto sidewalks. People who rake leaves into the roadway or onto sidewalks can be fined.
It takes crews seven to 10 days to complete a section of town, but that can be slowed by the weather. Crews typically place signs in neighborhoods ahead of leaf collect to alert residents.
You have other options to dispose of leaves. You can gather them up and take them to one of three leaf bins in town: the Nye Street fire house, the Church Street lot or Legion Field, off Regan Road.
The leaf collection bins are for leaves only. DO NOT drop off grass clippings, brush or any other item. If you use plastic bags to transport the leaves, the bags must be emptied and disposed of separately in refuse containers that are on site. Leaves in biodegradable bags can remain in the bags.
Leaves cannot be put out for collection with regular trash.
You can also gather leaves and put them in biodegradable bags for collection on the first two Fridays of December. You must call the Public Works at 860-870-3500 to schedule a pickup.
