Leaf collection update

Vernon Public Works crews have made tremendous progress on curbside leaf collection. One of the three crews has begun the second round of collection in the northeast part of town.

The two other crews will complete their first round in the next day or so and will immediately begin their second round.

As always, please drive carefully and responsibly when you see crews working in the road.

Once a second pass has been completed, curbside leaf collection will end.

If you have leaves after the completion of the second pass, there are two options:

  1. Leaves can be bagged in biodegradable paper bags for pickup on the first two Fridays in December. You must call Vernon Public Works at 860-870-3500 to schedule pickup.

  2. You can take leaves (leaves only, no brush or sticks) to one of three leaf collection areas in town located at:

  • The Nye Street firehouse (off West Street)

  • The Church Street lot near the rail trail parking lot

  • Legion Field off Regan Road at the rear of the parking lot

Bagged leaves WILL NOT be collected with household refuse.
