The Town of Vernon will host a stakeholder meeting for anyone interested in the ongoing Daniel’s Mill remediation and renovation project.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 14 Park Place, third floor. All are welcome.
The Daniels Mill project is part of the Rockville Mill Complex project, a program to remediate, repurpose and adaptively reuse the mills for the 21st Century. The overall project includes Daniel’s Mill, the former Amerbelle Mill and the former Anocoil facility.
Daniel’s Mill, at 98 East Main St., is the specific topic for Wednesday’s meeting. Residents can ask questions about project. Remediation of Daniels Mill recently went to bid.
A licensed environmental professional will attend to address questions about the cleanup process. Shaun Gately, Vernon’s director of development services, will answer questions about the overall project.
The Town of Vernon is working with Camden Management Partners of Atlanta, Georgia to redevelop the adjoining mills in downtown Vernon.
The site plan for the mill complex calls for 110,000 square feet of residential units, 20,000 square feet of commercial space and associated parking. A restaurant and event space is planned for the commercial space.
“These mills are the gateway to Rockville and this project will transform and further enhance our downtown,” Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. “I have been working for more than eight years to cleanup and redevelop these blighted properties. These mills are an important part of Vernon’s history and my goal is to make them an important part of our future too. In the meantime, we continue to work with the state and federal government to help move this project forward.”
