road work begins today

Road work on Jennifer Lane, Regina Drive, Hamilton Drive, Tunnel View Terrace and 139 Phoenix St. to 192 Warren Ave. is scheduled to begin TODAY (July 9) and will continue through the month, weather permitting. Milling and paving will be completed. The roadway will be milled from curb to curb and in preparation for paving.

The contractor performing road milling in preparation for paving is completing projects faster than expected and moving on to new work areas.

It is very important that there be no on street parking during the work periods.

Replacement of curbs and driveway aprons will be at the discretion of Vernon’s lead road foreman.

The Public Works Department has contracted with Rafferty Fine Grading for milling and Galasso Paving for paving work. Town of Vernon personnel will be on site as well.  Milling may require each road to be closed at times. Work will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to wrap up by 6 p.m. each day.

Roads may be closed to all through traffic during these time periods.

Local traffic will be accommodated as much as possible but there may be delays.

Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

During the milling process, travel may be difficult and is at your own risk.

If there are unanticipated issues during construction, the road may be closed beyond 6 p.m. to complete the work. Please keep this in mind as you travel through this area on those days and allow for extra time as this road closure may cause delays in the area.

We appreciate your cooperation as we strive to maintain your streets. If you have any questions, please call the Public Works Department at 860-870-3500.
