Horowitz pool

The Town of Vernon will celebrate the opening of the new Horowitz Pool at Henry Park with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m.

All are invited.

Mayor Dan Champagne and the Town Council will take look at the completed pool and pool house before Tuesday evening’s council meeting.

“Horowitz Pool is important to so many Vernon residents and I am glad that we were able to find a cost-effective way to replace it and provide our community with a great place to keep cool, swim laps and compete on a youth swim team,” Mayor Dan Champagne said. “The new Horowitz Pool will serve our community for generations.”

Federal pandemic relief funds were used to reconstruct the pool, which opened in 1953 and was used through 2019. There were multiple projects over the years to extend the pools use, but it was beyond its useful life.

Horowitz Pool is only one of three aquatics facilities available to Vernon residents. The others are Community Pool at 375 Hartford Turnpike and Newhoca Beach at 185 Grier Road.

All Vernon aquatic facilities open to the public on Monday, June 23. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.

Daily admission to the pools and Newhoca is $3 for people 12 and younger, and $5 for 13 and older. Vernon Senior Center members can swim at Horowitz Pool from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Season passes to all the facilities are available to Vernon residents only starting on June 23. Adults must present a state-issued photo ID at the time of purchase. The cost is $30 for people 12 and younger and $50 for people 13 and older.
