The State of Connecticut will be conducting repairs to the Tankerhoosen Lake Dam, located at approx. 40 Phoenix St. The project is expected to begin mid-June, and may last 6-8 weeks.
The project will consist of injecting grout behind the spillway to prevent seepage through the stone masonry and removing trees from the earthen embankment to prevent root systems from weakening the structure of the embankment. The water level of the lake will be lowered approximately 1.5 feet below the height of the spillway while this work is conducted.
The park and parking area at Phoenix Street/Maple Avenue will be used as the construction access and will be closed to the public for the duration of the project.
The project is being coordinated by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The project contractors are Tata & Howard and D’Amato Construction.
