The Greater Vernon Holistic Healthfest, a fundraiser for the Vernon Youth Services Bureau, takes place this Saturday, March 29, at Vernon Center Middle School.

The healthfest offers information on a variety of holistic and natural health practices, vendors, artists, workshops and demonstrations on everything from creating custom tea blends to meditation, hypnosis and aromatherapy. Admission is $5 and free for children younger than 12.

“The holistic healthfest is an opportunity for people to learn about holistic and natural health practices from practitioners,” Vernon Youth Services Director Michelle Hill said. “We have a variety of exhibitors who offer services and products that can help enhance your life and make you feel better. This is all about educating people and sharing information so people can expand their horizons and if they choose, learn more about various practices and products.”

Vernon Youth Services has hosted the healthfest for more than a decade. It began when a former youth services director was inspired to share what he had learned as he explored and employed holistic health practices to address his own health concerns.

In addition to the exhibitors, there will be workshops on topics such as joyful distractions in drumming, healing with meditation, and strategies to relieve stress. Monet’s Table from Tolland will also be serving food.

“The healthfest really has something for everyone,” Hill said.

The Greater Vernon Holistic Healthfest is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at Vernon Center Middle School, 777 Hartford Turnpike. There is plenty of free parking.
