Bryan Kerachsky

Skinner Road School Principal Bryan Kerachsky has been named 2025 Elementary Principal of the Year by the Connecticut Association of Schools. During his eight years at Skinner Road, Kerachsky has worked hard to build a community of learners and a record of student success.

“This is an amazing achievement and we are proud of Bryan,” Vernon Superintendent Dr. Joseph P. Macary said. “This is a fitting tribute to a person who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and an unrivaled commitment to his students, school and community. We are proud of Bryan and this recognition, which is a testament to his service to the students and staff of Skinner Road School.”

In 2023 Skinner Road School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School, and has achieved Connecticut School of Distinction status each year since the 2016-17 school year.

Skinner Road School students arrive each day knowing their teachers have high expectations and a commitment to helping them achieve. As principal, Kerachsky works with his staff to create that environment.

“I am deeply honored to be named Connecticut Elementary Principal of the Year,” Kerachsky said. “I did not, however, achieve this honor on my own. I am lucky to work in a community of amazing professionals within the Vernon Public Schools and Skinner Road School. Our focus is always on our students and doing our absolute best to help them grow and achieve. I can’t thank my staff, students, families, Dr. Macary, district leaders, and my family enough for all that they have done to make this possible.”

The Principal of the Year program in 1984 and recognizes outstanding school principals who have succeeded in providing high quality learning opportunities for students, and demonstrated excellent leadership, commitment to staff and students, service to their communities, and contributions to educational leadership.
