The Rockville Public Library is among more than 100 public libraries nationwide that has been awarded funding to offer a variety of computer courses to increase digital literacy and skills.
The funding is part of a grant from AT&T to the Public Library Association, which supports public libraries in their work to increase digital knowledge in their communities.
“Our library is a gold mine of information, programs and workshops that help our residents learn and make our community stronger,” Vernon Mayor Dan Champagne said. “I urge Vernon residents to take advantage of this program to learn about keeping connected in our digital world.”
The Rockville Public Library will offer multiple sessions of the following classes now through the end of May:
• Computer Basics
• Windows 10
• Internet Basics
• Email Basics
• Mobile Device Basics (Both Android and Apple)
• Cybersecurity Basics
You can visit the library website, www.rockvillepubliclibrary.org, or call 860-875-5892 for more details.
“Serving our community is what the Rockville Public Library is all about,” Library Director Jennifer Johnston-Marius said. “We saw this grant as presenting a terrific opportunity to provide information to our patrons and residents who would like to learn more about computers, mobile phones and the digital world. These skills are especially helpful to seniors, and can help them maintain their independence, access information easily, and stay connected with family and friends.”
Transportation assistance to the library is available. For
