Police Explorer Program
The Vernon Police Explorer program is a youth-oriented initiative designed to give young adults aged 14-21 an inside look at law enforcement careers, offer hands-on experience, training, and insights into police operations.
Explorers may participate in ride-alongs, assist with community events, and learn about various aspects of law enforcement, such as building searches, traffic stops, and accident investigation. Explorers are non-sworn, unarmed civilian volunteers with no arrest or enforcement powers.
The key aspects of the Police Explorer Program include:
Training
Practical Experience
Community Involvement
Career Exploration
Personal Development
