Trash and Recycling Collection

Curbside pickup begins at 6 a.m. year-round Monday through Friday. The carts must be placed at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on collection day and no more than 24 hours in advance.

The Automated Routes utilize the tan carts that are either 96-gallons or 64-gallons in capacity. Refuse should be bagged and placed in the carts. Items on or around the carts will not be collected. Carts should be placed to the curb with the wheels pointing away from the street and at least 3 feet away from another cart, a phone pole, a mailbox, etc.

Additional refuse and recycling carts may be purchased for $95 each.  Mail a check payable to the Town of Vernon to the Public Works Department, 375 Hartford Turnpike Vernon, CT  06066.  Don’t forget to include your contact information including:  phone number, address where the cart is to be delivered and which cart you wish to purchase refuse or recycling.
