The Town of Vernon has been awarded a $1,636,696 grant through the State Bond Commission, which is administered by the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. The grant will be used for the Town of Vernon’s Water Pollution Control, which conducted a review of the town’s wastewater collection and treatment facilities. The town has retained Tighe & Bond, Inc. as the engineer to design new sanitary sewer lines and a pump station. The new utilities will serve several undeveloped parcels of industrial, commercial and residential land in the area of Exit 67 off I-84 in Vernon. Additionally, address the failing septic systems in the area.

The project includes the installation of approximately 5,600 feet of 8-inch gravity sewer main, approximately 1,200 feet of 6-inch sewer laterals, approximately 2,100 feet of 6-inch sewer force main, and one new pump station. The gravity sewer main, low-pressure sewer main, and pump station would maintained by Vernon’s Water Pollution Control Authority. The new gravity sewer will connect to the new pumping station, and the new sewer force main will connect to an existing 18-inch gravity sewer main.
