Welcome to Vernon, a celebrated place to live, work and visit.

Voter Registration Deadlines

Deadlines to register are as follows

November General Elections

State law requires that you be registered at least seven days before a November general election. You can register from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day before any election if you turn 18, become a U.S. citizen, or moved into Vernon after the seven day deadline.

Same day voter registration is also available to all eligible to vote at the office of the Registrars of Voters, 375 Hartford Turnpike, on Election Day between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Primary Elections

State law requires that you be registered with a party to vote in that party's primary.

If you are a new voter or joining a party from unaffiliated status your application must be postmarked by the 5th day before the primary, or be received by your local Registrar of Voters or a voter registration agency by the 5th day before a primary.

You also can apply in person to any Registrar of Voters Office until 5 p.m. on the last business day before a primary.

If you are in a major party and want to join another major party, there is a 90-day waiting period until you can vote in a primary.

If you live at school part of the year, you can register in that town or in your hometown. You can only be registered to vote in one location.
