In 2019, the Hartford Foundation established a community fund of $100,000 in each of the 29 towns in the Foundation’s region, including Vernon.  In 2022, the Foundation provided an additional $50,000 to each community fund, with $30,000 immediately available for grant making and $20,000 being invested in the funds’ endowments. The purpose of the Greater Together Community Funds is to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns; to encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement; and to anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town.  Since then, Vernon Greater Together Community Fund has granted $62,000 for 16 community projects.

In addition to giving grants, the Greater Together Community Funds through the Hartford Foundation allows organizations and individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to any of the 29 Community Funds to support activities in those communities. You can give in honor of a loved one or in memory of someone. All donations to the Vernon Greater Together Community Fund are welcome! For more information, visit or call 860-548-1888, or see: and
