Area state legislative and town referendum results ... at 5:30 a.m.
By Journal Inquirer Staff
11/02/2004

Vernon: Three bonding referendum proposals were approved: for roads, water treatment, and sewers. The other four proposals were defeated.

At the referendum, voters approved $21.6 million for road, bridge, and sidewalk reconstruction, improvements to the town's wastewater treatment facility to reduce nitrogen discharge, and money to replace broken sewer pipes and renovate the Dart Hill Road pump station.

Taxpayers rejected spending $16 million to improve public buildings, clean and dredge the Tankerhoosen Lake, buy open space, and install a new town-wide telecommunications system.

Voters at a referendum Nov. 2 rejected a $37.6 million public improvement bond package that would have gone to town projects.
