NOTE: No work must begin until you receive signed/approved permit.

The following is required to apply for a permit:

  • Permit application; signed by the homeowner or contractor.
  • Submit the application along with: 
    1. 2 sets of plans (if applicable).
    2. Copy of valid contractors license (if applicable)
    3. Copy of Workers Compensation OR signed waiver (7A form)
    4. Cash, Check or money order payable to: Town of Vernon (see fee schedule)
    5. Zoning Application (if applicable)
    6. Site plan indicating location of construction (if applicable)
    7. Copy of installation guidelines for Pellet & Woodstoves 
*Health Department approval required for homes with a well and/or septic for all permits with the exception of mechanical. Contact North Central Dist. Health Dept. at #860-872-1501.


NOTICE:  The Building Department has 30 days to Approve or Deny Permit Applications per C.G.S. sec. 29-263.  Completed Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
