Vernon Parks and Recreation For information call 870-3520 This class is open to children ages 4-7 years old. Get your child interested in being fit, and exercise in this fun-filled class. The class will learn proper stretching techniques, basic aerobic activities , running drills and much more. Tuesdays, April 22 - May 27 6 - 6:45 p.m. Teen Center Residents: $30, Non-Residents : $35 This program is designed for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Taught by the Performing Arts Program , children will learn theater games, concentration exercises, basic voice and speech, imagination play and more. This is a 7 - week program. Wednesdays, April 23 - June 4 K -2 : 4:15-5 p.m. 3-6 : 5:05-6 p.m. Vernon Teen Center Fee: $95 To register, call 1-866-650-584 . Register on line at www.PerformingArtsPrograms .biz This American Red Cross course provides individuals, ages 11-15 , with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play; and first aid. Participants must attend all classes to receive certification . The Vernon Parks and Recreation Dept. will be sponsoring a track program for boys and girls in grades K-8 . This program has track meets with neighboring towns, which requires you to transport your child to and from those towns. NOTE: Meets typically occur every other Wednesday. ATTENTION : We are looking for an assistant coach for this program. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Department for details. Tuesdays & Thursdays Date: TBA (anticipating April 15) 5:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. Rockville High School Track Fee: $25 per child; $45 per family The Parks and Recreation Dept. proudly sponsors a fun evening for the entire family. Bring your family and friends to enjoy pizza and refreshments at the Vernon Teen Center, followed by a big screen movie in the gymnasium. Bring blankets and chairs for the movie . Thursday, April 24 “Bee Movie” 6:30 p.m. - Pizza & Refreshments 7:15 p.m. - Movie Starts Center 375 Residents: $1, Non-Residents : $6 An instructional, coed program, that teaches the fundamentals of baseball to young players using a variety of fun drills and activities designed to develop skills and a love for the game. Art Wheelock and the Rockville High coaches and players provide instruction and discuss the importance of having fun and good sportsmanship. The program meets for six weeks. Class size is limited . Deadline is April 11. Activity #2107 Section A Who: Coed, Ages 5 - 8 When: Saturdays, April 19 - May 24 Time : 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Where: RHS Baseball Field FEE: Residents: $40, Non-Res : $45 P&R is accepting new teams that are interested in participating in the Vernon Adult Softball League. Games are played Monday through Friday at Henry Park and Community Field. Entrance fee is $800, any questions please call. The 5th annual Town of Vernon Comedy Night, featuring two comedians, will take place on Fri., May 16, at 7 p.m., at the Elks Carriage House, 9 North Park St.
The cost is $25 per person, which includes appetizers from Stop and Shop. Max DJ Service will provide music. Seating will be 10 to a table, and a cash bar will be available. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the P&R office. All proceeds will go towards the July in the Sky Fireworks. |
