PRESS RELEASE

May 4, 2009

There will be a public meeting held with the Vernon Conservation Commission and the Parks and Recreation Department to discuss a problem of invasive species in the Vernon Ponds. Residents who live on or near a water resource are encouraged to attend. The species is a variable-leaf water milfoil that has been detected in Valley Falls Pond and Walker’s Reservoir.

The meeting will be held on May 14th, 2009 at 7:00pm in the Town Council Chambers located in the Town Hall at 14 Park Place.

The public is invited and comments and questions will be welcomed. Dr. George Knoecklein will be giving a presentation on the problem.
