WARNING
TOWN OF VERNON
ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING (REFERENDUM)
FOR VOTING UPON TOWN BUDGET
MAY 3, 2008

This is to give notice to the Electors and qualified taxpayers that the Annual Town Meeting of the Town of Vernon for the consideration of the Budget for the fiscal year 2008-2009 in the amount of $75,451,602 was held April 22, 2008, but was adjourned without a vote taken on said budget due to the filing of a Petition in accordance with Section 7-7 of the Connecticut General Statutes requesting that voting be conducted by paper ballot or voting machine not less than 7 nor more than 14 days after said Annual Town Budget Meeting.

This is to give further notice that the Town Council, following the Annual Town Budget Meeting, voted to hold the voting on the budget upon voting machines on May 3, 2008 at Center 375, 375 Hartford Turnpike, (Rt. 30) Vernon, Connecticut, between the hours of 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

The designation on the Ballot label for a “Yes” or “No” vote shall be as follows:

• ALL Electors of the Town of Vernon will vote at Center 375, 375 Hartford Turnpike (Rt. 30), Vernon, Connecticut.
• Citizens other than Electors who are qualified to vote at Town Meetings in the Town of Vernon shall also vote at Center 375, 375 Hartford Turnpike (Rt. 30).
• United States citizens who are not registered electors (voters) or are non-residents of the Town of Vernon, but own property in Vernon with a combined total of $1,000.00 per person in assessed property value and are at least 18 years of age ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE at the Adjourned Town Meeting (Referendum) and will also be voting at Center 375, 375 Hartford Turnpike (Route 30).
• IDENTIFICATION MUST BE PRESENTED BY ALL PERSONS WISHING TO VOTE.

Absentee Ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, Memorial Building, 14 Park Place, Vernon.

Central Counting for Absentee Ballots will be held at Center 375, 375 Hartford Turnpike (Rt. 30), Vernon, Connecticut.

The entire proposed budget and statement on the proposed uses of Revenue Sharing Funds, including budget summary, can be inspected by the public from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 AM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, and 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, in the Town Clerk’s office, Memorial Building, 14 Park Place, Vernon, Connecticut.
