Wetlands Plantings

Wetland Plantings

On October 1, 2000, 4.5.2.11 Wetlands Plantings list was approved by the Town Council, and added to Appendix A of Wetlands Regulations.

Our concern was that Developers were introducing non-native plants and trees to landscaping plans. Many of their plantings were ornamental or invasive, and provided no food or shelter for native wildlife. Our list was prepared based on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife publication entitled "Planting Guide to Native Wetland Plants of the Connecticut River Watershed for Wetland Restoration Use." Thanks to George Arthur and Sheryl McMullen for managing this effort.
