Conservation Commission Member Bios

Sheryl McMullen
Sheryl McMullen has been a member of the Commission since 1999, and has served as Chairperson of the Commission since 2005. She is by profession a Project Management Consultant, but by avocation, an outdoor enthusiast and wildlife rehabilitator, holding both a State and Federal Migratory Bird License.

Tom Ouellette
Tom Ouellette, a Conservation Commission member since 2005, is employed as an Environmental Analyst with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Long Island Sound Programs. He is interested in the protection of open space and wildlife habitat in Vernon, so as to provide a physical connection to our natural environment for all citizens, and an educational resource for present and future generations.

Scott Sierakowski, a Conservation Commission member since 2005, is employed as an Art Director for JAKKS Pacific. With his interested in the protecting the natural resources that Vernon has to offer and his love for the outdoors the conservation commission was the perfect opportunity to give back to the community.

Dennis Sullivan

Scott Wieting
Scott Wieting, member since 8/04, joined the commission to learn about conservation and how I could help preserve our natural resources. I think it's important that there's a place for people to be able to take the kids and the family dog for a hike, close to home.Recognition of Scott's contributions in both having the Scenic Road ordinance passed, and for nominating his own road, Valley Falls.

Russell Kunz
Russell Kunz is a semi-retired engineer who has lived in Vernon for over forty years. He is a member of the Open Space Task Force and is currently employed at the University of Connecticut and the Florida Solar Energy Center where he directs research on fuel cells. These are clean and efficient generators of electricity that are hoped to provide future national energy independence. He is interested in several outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, canoeing, and cross-country skiing. Because of this interest, he is familiar with much of the open space in Vernon. He is active in the First Congregational Church of Vernon.
